We all know our teeth are important, but we may not now the best way to care for them. This is because there are so many products out there, and some much conflicting advice about what is really the best thing for the teeth. Communities fight about having fluoride in the water supply, and dentists recommend different types of toothpastes. Even worse, there are regular toothbrushes, and then there is the sonic toothbrush. Some suggest one is fine, and others go the other way. It can be very confusing.

I know that I like to have my daughter using an sonic toothbrush because I donít think she is old enough to truly brush her teeth as she should. She tries to do well, but she simply doesnít have the fine motor skills she needs just yet, and she isnít as serious about it as she should be. When she uses an sonic toothbrush, the brush is doing all of the work. I just have to make sure she moves it around to the different teeth, and that she leaves it working long enough to really clean her teeth.

She has taken to the sonic toothbrush rather well, but I was worried at first. The noise and the motion startled her in the beginning, and I was certain she would never want to put her sonic toothbrush in her mouth. However, she showed me that she has some courage, and she gave it a try by putting it on her tongue first. When she decided that it tickled, but didnít hurt, she also decided it would be okay to use on her teeth. I often have to remind her to get all of her teeth, but I am satisfied thinking that she is doing the best she can with her teeth at a young age.

If you want your child to use the sonic toothbrush, you may have to coax them into doing so at first. You might want to take them to the store with you to allow them to choose the one they want to use. This will up the chances of them actually trying it out. Some come with characters that your children know and love, and that often makes it easier for them to use the sonic toothbrush. It might also help if they see you using one, as they can see it doesnít hurt and is certainly nothing to be scared of.
